US author Dan Brown's flashback to his thriller “Deception Point”

In his flashback to the novel Deception Point (2001), Dan Brown just posted a picture on Facebook showing him on Mount Washington (link to Facebook). A Thies CLIMA US2D has been in operation at the weather station on Mount Washington for many years. The picture shows Dan in arctic protective clothing in an icy environment, in the background the US2D type 4.3820.4x.xxx can be seen completely free of ice. The ultrasonic transducers, arms and shaft of the device are powerfully heated so that the device remains ice-free even under extreme conditions such as on Mount Washington with temperatures as low as -43.9°C and record wind speeds of up to 408 km/­h.
